The temple named “Badrinath” has a historical significance rooted on the belief that Lord Vishnu practiced austerity here. The goddess Lakshmi adopted the guise of a Vishala-Badari (Great Fig tree), concealing the god behind the shade of the branches, to protect her husband from the sun’s glaring beams. Lord Vishnu declared that this location would henceforth be called after her, having been satisfied with the devotedness of a consort. The temple is only open for visitors six months out of the year. This is a result of the Himalayas’ harsh weather. The holy hot springs are located at the temple’s entrance. Those who are interested might go to Manna, a village on the border between India and Tibet, and Vasudhara Falls
