The town is a significant hub for Hindu pilgrimages and spirituality. Here in Rishikesh, the banks of the Ganges are dotted with several temples. Yogis and Sadhus have lived and practiced Hinduism here for years. When the Beatles visited this little hill hamlet in the late 1960s to study transcendental meditation and stay at an Ashram, it became known to the western world.
